GI Joe Assaults Online Poker, Refrigerated Beer, Noobs
published on 03/18/11 at 7:09 am Angel Valdez is working towards the American dream. By waking up at noon, cracking opening a PBR, and giving online poker a shot full-time. We talk to the recently unemployed McDonalds cashier, now full time poker player and owner of the Online Poker Team (OPT) to see what he is all about. Special interviewer, Street3, makes an appearance to ask a few of his own questions. What is the background on your twitter name, GI Joe Valdez? Big into kids and toys? Was Snake Eyes the coolest Joe? Why not the nickname, El Burro?I was in the Army for 8 years and was pretty crazy. One time one of the older guys said slow your roll gijoe and take it easy and it stuck since then some called me gijoe. After I got out of the Army I created an email with that name. Nothing glorious about it but it has stuck. Now most people that dont know my real name call me Joe. Why did you start the OPT?Other players and I used to be a part of another online poker team but they were jerks when it came time to play. If you lost they were all over you, and put a lot of pressure for you to finish out your allotment. Talked to a couple of other unhappy players and they suggested I start my own. I did and took it from there. I made it a lot of fun to be a part of this team with zero drama and been very lucky so far. Has this endeavor been profitable? The OPT: Yes, when we first started The OPT share were sold at $5 each. Now they are close to $6, and when we started I begged players to join we now have a waiting list and its not as easy to get in.Full time poker pro: Im on day 3 and if I continue min cashing in this fashion I will be broke sooner then 2 weeks. What are your plans if you do not find a job when your bankroll runs out next week?I been lucky to have made a lot of final tables in my online poker career so I paid close attention to all the rail beggars. Noted all their sappy questions and how they get players to ship them money. Its better then standing by the freeway with a sign. I can beg from home. Just open up a final table and go to work. If you were a pro who would you like to sponsor you? Some whale that doesnt care if they lose money. Mike Matusow is probably the biggest candidate. Ive seen him stake some really bad players in the Main event so I figured I cant do any worse. What is the square root of 9?There is a square in 9? Had to Google that. 3 it says. What is your favorite poker game? Cash/tourney? The most you have ever won and lost?Favorite game are Super Turbos MTT, 2nd favorite are Rush games, 3rd are deepstack/double stack MTTs. I dont play cash games at all, but when I have Ive done pretty well. The most I have won in an MTT has been $3300 on Pokerstars, and $2200 several times on Fulltilt. The most Ive lost in an MTT online was $110 and in cash game $77 I think. Live game I spent $125 to play a sat which I won. That gave me $1100 to play a wsopc event. I didnt cash so that sucked. Im a bankroll nit so Noob Was it a good or bad decision, on my part, to allow Street3 into this interview? Explain this. Its always good to let Street3 into any conversation with you. He will make you look good. You could be picking your nose live on TV and no one will notice anything but his big forehead. See attached pic space is available for advertisement on his forehead so he says Check/Call or Bet/Fold? Why?Both.Check/call: when using pot control. If you have top pair and weak kicker or fear other player flopped bigger hand.Bet/fold: is what I use when in agro mode and I use it vs any number of opponents. You get so much information by throwing out a bet. At best they all fold or 1 calls the rest fold, and at worse case scenario they all fold and 1 re-raises you, or they all call. What piece of advice would you give a first time online poker player?Dont get started. QUIT! Turn around and go play checkers. But if he really doesnt like that advice I suggest getting some proper training or a solid coach, read up on the game, have a nice bankroll to back you up, set your priorities, and stick to a routine. Ive seen a lot of players go on tilt in poker but it doesnt stop there. Usually that carries across there other parts of their life and they crash and burn. There are a lot of stories on the news about gamblers robbing some casino, held up another player, or held up a bank or convenience store. If you arent patient in life you will definitely not succeed in poker. While this game skill has 70% of chance the other 30% is lady lucks doing and shes a cold hart bitch. If you arent ready for the losses or cant handle it then dont get started. This game is filled with skilled and solid players, and it takes time for a noob to get there. This game can be a lot of fun just dont let it get you down. Related posts: Online Poker Player Plays His Cards Close To The Vest Black Friday Saves One Players Money & Relationship

Black Friday Saves One Players Money & Relationship
published on 04/23/11 at 8:54 am One person who will be saving money after Black Friday, is Steve Street3 Carse. Known to have wasted thousands of dollars on online poker sites, the recent federal take over of Full Tilt Poker will have a positive effect on Mr. Carses financial statements. Angel Valdez, of the Online Poker Team, fires some questions at Oklahomas number one degenerate. How much money have you saved since Online poker got shut down?I transferred my last $80 on FTP to Angel to bet on black at the casino. He informed me that I lost. So, I would have naturally deposited another $50 and in turn, ran that up to around $55, then lost it all. Then I would have reloaded again. I would guess since Friday, I have saved around $450. But, since I dont have online poker anymore, i am extremely bored and have since spent over $1500 on various illegal endeavors. Those intruders in their homes have names? Some call them Kids, and others call them Mom/Dad/HoneyHonestly I am scared to death about what this question means and wonder how much meth the interviewer has inhaled to come up with such a psycho question. I live with my girlfriend Kelly and I have not seen any intruders in my home. When they stepped outside did the sun melt off their skin? Did they get the vampire effect?Again, another scary question that makes about as much sense as a gaggle of coked up geese selling cookies to gimps. Is their ability to make money playing online poker myopia equal to lets say Charlie Sheen thinking hes normal?I dont know what myopia means and Im too fucking lazy to google it. Charlie Sheen has Goddesses, cocaine, no teeth and millions of dollars. I have Kelly, teeth and tens of dollars. You tell me. Why is chicke nmeth so addictive, especially among online poker players?A bit of history, Chicken meth was introduced in Arkansas by Jeremy Allen. Its a combination of meth, chicken shit and feathers. It gives one the ability to 5bet shove 73o into AA and see a 773 flop. Or at least thats what chicken meth benders will trick your mind into seeing. On the evolutionary poker scale, where would you place IBGPN?I would place him at the bottom of the scale. Somewhere between a single celled organism and tadpole. While he can swim with the sharks, hes often overlooked as his bank roll rarely goes above the $1 mark. His most frequent sightings have the word (OBSERVER) after his name. I just had a cup of tea and a grilled cheese sandwich. Comments? You must be gay or British.

In defense of Ray Bitar
My View of the Poker Domain seizures part 5 I hear 1000s of members of the poker community and bloggers constantly criticizing Ray Bitar. Granted, there were mistakes made at Full Tilt Poker. Few people stop to consider that all of these mistakes would have never happened if the UIGEA was never passed. Not to mention the very fact that the bill was passed because of illegal bribes and corruption in government at the highest levels. The major problems occurred at Full Tilt Poker when they were forced to deal with having to process money online in an unsavory grey area. The vast majority of banks would not process transactions because the wording of the UIGEA was vague at best. Full Tilt Poker and other sites would allegedly have to label transactions as golf balls or something to that effect. Somewhere along the line bank accounts were be frozen and this led to minor shortfalls. The major shortfall happened when some poker players realized that when they funded their accounts, the money was not debited from the bank account. Unscrupulous poker players started to use this as an exploit and withdrew thousands of dollars. With hundreds of people doing this and word spreading, Full Tilt was exploited for tens of millions. The grey area was created by the UIGEA and if the UIGEA was illegal because of how it was passed, then Ray Bitar may not be to blame entirely. In fact, by the USA signing agreements with the WTO regarding fair trade, the USA has violated the World Trade Organization treaty they signed. Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars stayed in business in the USA because they had high priced attorneys that advised them that they were on legal grounds. The Wire Act and UIGEA were so ambiguous or outdated, that the DOJ recently said that the Wire Act does not apply to poker. They flip flopped because the DOJ is being proxy run by lobbyist firms. Obviously they should have noticed the massive credited accounts and should have realized that the bank balance was off. We dont know what happened because Full Tilt Poker hasnt spoken much because they have the DOJ wanted to throw them in jail. That is until Bernard Tapie came in as a potential buyer. As soon as that deal was signed the DOJ let up a bit then reversed their position on the WIRE Act. In conclusion, Id say that it is almost impossible to run a company if you have top pros owing you 10 million individually and around 20 million combined. Then, on top of that, buying them into all their tournaments and giving them airfare, hotel, etc etc. Secondly , have players overdraft their accounts tens of millions and chip dump withdraw. And finally, the DOJ indict you, freeze all your properties, freeze all your accounts, and have your top pro add to your legal bills by suing you for ten times what he owes you. So, I dont think Ray Bitar did anything wrong, I just think closer attention should have been paid to these phantom deposits, and less money should have been lent to Ivey and other players. PokerStars recently announced that the event will run from April 23 through May 1 at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Casino. Monte Carlo had hosted the event for six years before it was moved to Spain in 2011. “This will be the biggest and best EPT festival ever held, and we’re putting together an incredible tournament,” said EPT President Edgar Stuchly. As always, the Grand Final will be highlighted by the 10,000 Main Event. Last year, Ivan Freitez outlasted a field of 686 players to claim victory and a 1.5 million payday in Madrid. Other past winners of the prestigious tournament include Nicolas Chouity, Pieter de Korver, Glen Chorny, Gavin Griffin, Jeff Williams and Rob Hollink. In addition to the Main Event, this year’s Grand Final will feature a 100,000 buy-in Super High Roller. A similar Super High Roller event has been featured at the EPT’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the past, but the event in Monaco will be the first hosted on European soil. The huge buy-in is certain to attract some of the biggest names in poker. Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom won the most recent $100,000 Super High Roller in the Bahamas for $1.2 million. There are four stops on EPT Season 8 before the Grand Final kicks off in April.

Team Titan and Sorel Mizzi on a Roll
Submitted on Fri, 2010-05-21 05:25 Sorel Mizzi, who made his name as a monster online poker player and signed with Team Titan at Titan Poker one month ago, has been burning up the poker tables in Europe. Mizzi finished in the money twice recently. European Poker Tour On the European Poker Tour (EPT), Mizzi captured sixth ($190,000) at the Grand Final High Roller event. As we noted in a recent article, the European Poker Tour is considered to be the richest poker tour around, with over a dozen events across the continent and one tourney in the Bahamas. Back in April, Mizzi was signed as the guru of Team Titan. Titan Poker has made it a priority to find new players online and mentor them into champs. When they signed Mizzi last month, he was already considered to be a top player and became the designated captain of the team. World Poker Tour His latest finish in the money was last week at the World Poker Tour Rendez-Vous a Paris. He finished second winning $159,000 in a 25-player, $20,000 buy in. Freddy Deeb took the main prize in the event. Thus far this year Mizzi has won $1,266,960. Watch out if you’re sitting across the green felt from him. Team Titan at Titan Poker has found a winner.
